Answered Prayer in the Bible

Have you ever prayed to God and found yourself wishing that He would speak out loud, like in days of Moses and Samuel? Without God actually speaking out loud, you might doubt that He hears you. But the Bible reassures us multiple times that God hears us and answers our prayers! Take a look at a few stories in the Bible that show us how God answers prayer.Hannah and Her BabyHannah prayed desperately for a child but suffered from infertility. She never gave up, and after an evening spent in fervent prayer at the temple, she became pregnant. She followed through in her promise to dedicate her first child to the Lord and gave Samuel to the temple to be raised by Eli the priest. However, through her prayers and Eli’s prayers for her, Hannah was blessed with five more children, and she had three sons and two daughters.Peter’s Release From JailActs 12 tells us of Peter getting arrested and thrown in jail for being a member of the church, and we learn that church members were praying earnestly for his safe release. On the night that Herod was going to kill Peter, Peter was shackled to two soldiers and watched by guards when suddenly, there was an angel by his side. Light filled the room, the handcuffs fell from his wrists, and the angel led him to safety.Jairus and His DaughterMark 5 tells us the story of a man named Jairus, who begs for Jesus’s help as his daughter is close to death. Jesus follows Jairus to his house, where the little girl has already passed away. He grabs her hand and says, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Little girl, get up,” and she was alive once again.Daniel and the DreamsIn Daniel 2, King Nebuchadnezzar was having dreams that disturbed him greatly, and he couldn’t figure out their meaning. He summoned magicians, enchanters, sorcerers, and fortune tellers to help him discern the meaning, but he refused to tell them the dream first. He wanted to know that their interpretations were legitimate, and said that if they were truly able to interpret his dream, they would already know it. They said that that was impossible and no one except a god could do this, and the King executed them and set out an order to execute all the wise men. Now, Daniel was a wise man and knew his life was in danger. He bravely and discreetly asked the King’s guard the reasoning behind this order and then asked for a meeting with the King to interpret his dream. Daniel went home and asked his friends to pray with him for help with solving the dream’s meaning. That night, the answer was sent to him in a vision. After Daniel went to the King, verses 46-48 tell us that “King Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face and paid homage to Daniel, and commanded that an offering and incense be offered up to him... The king said to Daniel, ‘Truly, your God is God of gods and Lord of kings, and a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this mystery.’ Then the king gave Daniel high honors and many great gifts and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon. For more than 50 years, the Orlando private schools have been helping children grow to their fullest potential and become leaders within their communities.
