Arts at Annunciation Academy

Band

The band program features two different bands. Beginning band is open to all students who are in the fourth grade or above and requires no musical experience. Advanced band is open to students with one year of experience or six months of private instruction. Both bands are wind instruments, including flutes, clarinets, oboes, saxophones, trumpets, French horns, trombones, tuba, and percussion. Not only will your child learn an instrument, but she also will learn the art of musical performance. There are many techniques your child will learn in order to calm nerves during a performance, which can carry over to other aspects of her life. Music

If your child is in elementary school, weekly instruction will help her develop a love for music and be an important part of her life. Songs are introduced in relation to holidays and units of study, including the study of various genres: classical, jazz, rock, and country. Your child will be taught to master the understanding of music notation through various instruments. After school, small group classes and summer music/drama camps are also available.

Drama

Every year your child will get to participate in a theater production that alternates between a musical and a drama. Her talents will be highlighted through the use of modern theatrical stage, which includes state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment. We encourage your child to audition and participate in the production by being an actor or stage manager, running lights and sound, or helping with costumes and makeup. Participating in drama encourages greater confidence, all while making new friends and making special memories.
