Thanksgiving Recipes

For many families, Thanksgiving often means one family member is left slaving away in the kitchen all day. But preparing the big feast doesn't have to be a solo act! This year, let your child help out with these kid-friendly Thanksgiving recipes from Orlando Catholic schools.

Corn Casserole
Your child will love this sweet and savory side dish, and you'll love just how easy it is to make! Simply combine melted butter, corn muffin mix, eggs, sour cream, and canned corn in a big bowl and stir everything up. Pour it out into a casserole dish, top with shredded cheddar cheese, and bake it for about an hour in a 350 degree oven. And voila! A simple side dish you and your child can make together that will please even the pickiest of palettes!

Turkey Treats
These sweets are super simple to make! Simply whip up a batch of your favorite crisped rice treats and cut the treats out into circles. Then, set out some candy so your child can decorate his turkey! He can create his turkey's head and feathers with a chocolate melting wafer and candy corn. A pair of candy eyes and a beak complete this look for an adorable Turkey Day dessert your child will gobble up!

No-Bake Pumpkin Pie
No Thanksgiving feast is complete without pumpkin pie! With your supervision, your child can create this no-bake recipe all by himself! All you need is pumpkin pie filling, vanilla instant pudding mix, milk, whipped topping, and a graham cracker pie crust. Place the pudding mix and milk into a container with a tight-fitting lid. Then, put on the lid and let your child shake the container until the pudding is thick. Pour the pudding into a bowl and add the pumpkin pie filling and whipped topping. Once everything is combined, you’re ready to pour out the filling into your remade pie crust. Then comes the hardest part of the whole recipe: You and your child have to wait while the pie chills in the freezer for two hours! But don't worry — your patience will be sweetly rewarded.
