Healthy Breakfast Options

We often focus on having a healthy lunch, but a healthy breakfast is just as important for your child to fuel his body for the day. Children are known to be picky eaters, but our private schools in Orlando have a list of healthy and easy breakfasts your child will love.

Breakfast Bars
Made from a variety of superfood seeds, oats, chocolate chips, and peanut butter, these easy no-bake breakfast bars are gluten-free and vegan.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1½ cups rolled oats (use gluten-free if desired)
  • ¼ cup flaxseed meal
  • ⅛ cup chia seeds
  • ¼ cup sunflower seeds
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds
  • ⅓ cup pumpkin seeds
  • ½ cup cashews
  • ½ cup almonds
  • ½ cup agave nectar
  • 1 cup natural peanut butter (or nut butter of choice
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

All you need to do is mix everything up, pour it into a pan, and wait for it to become firm. Store the mixture in the freezer, and slice them into bars. It’s the perfect out-of-the-door nutritious breakfast!

Burrito Bites
Mini burrito bites are perfect for the child who doesn’t really want breakfast but needs a little pick me up. You’ve got to prevent that low sugar, right? With burritos, you can basically add anything you want, but we’ve got a simple recipe for you.

What to Do:

  • Sautée peppers
  • Cook an egg
  • Rolled it in a whole wheat tortilla
  • Cut cross-ways like sushi

What’s great about this recipe is the nutritional value. One cup of bell peppers is loaded with vitamin C and vitamin A, both are perfect for immune support. Additionally, peppers are high in fiber, which your child needs!

Overnight Oats
Overnight oats are a simple yet hearty recipe! The best part is it encourages you to meal prep so you’re not scrambling to make your child his breakfast in the morning.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 cup gluten-free rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup non-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 4 large strawberries, cored and thinly sliced

Mix all of the ingredients thoroughly, and store overnight in an airtight container for at least six to 24 hours.
