ACA Students Share Their Faith Through Art

They say that art is food for the soul. For students at Annunciation Catholic Academy, that statement rang true as they beautified their neighborhoods — with a positive twist — using their artistic gifts and a virtual school lesson in creativity and love.

As part of the schools’ stay-at-home learning efforts, ACA art teacher Katie Holt challenged students to create stained glass art on their neighborhood sidewalks and fence posts. Incorporating their math and artistic skills, students rose to the challenge and used masking tape and sidewalk chalk to create colorful, geometric shapes that emulated the beautiful windows of their church. Some students took the challenge one step further and added special messages to their art.

“I am pleased that many of our students participated in this challenge,” she said. “My hope is that the positive messages put a smile on the faces of those passing by. We teach our students to share their love of Jesus with others. I am proud to see them do that through their art.”

“It is heartwarming to see our students actively engaged and excited to continue practicing all of the techniques that Mrs. Holt has introduced them to during their art lessons,” said Patty Kahle, principal. “Hopefully this lesson helped to bring a smile to their neighbors’ faces and the peace of Christ in their hearts.”
