This Candy Cane Wreath is Perfect for Any Creative Child
Christmas break can be a stressful time for parents. Not only is there plenty of planning to do for family festivities and holiday gift-giving, but with your child home from school, it can be difficult to find activities to keep her or him occupied. This wreath is the perfect answer – not only is it a great activity that you and your child can put together, but it also makes a great addition to your home’s holiday decorations. With only a few things needed to make this beautiful holiday decoration, keeping your child busy with a great creative outlet has never been easier! Because you will be using a hot glue gun, you will want to supervise this activity, especially with younger children.Materials
- Candy Canes
- Red Hot Candies
- Peppermints
- Ribbon
- Craft Knife & Pencil
- 3in Circle
- Roll of Tape
- A Piece of Heavy Cardboard
- Hot-Glue Gun
Steps
- Using the roll of tape, trace the outside of the circle and then the inside of the circle on the piece of cardboard. Cut out the ring you’ve now traced.
- Arrange your candy canes around the cardboard ring, then hot glue the ends to the ring and let cool.
- Flip the wreath over and add a bead of hot glue to the tips of each cane to reinforce the wreath’s connection.
- Hot glue the peppermints around the center of the wreath.
- Hot glue the Red Hots around the edge of the wreath.
- Use the ribbon to create a loop to hang the wreath, and tie a bow at the ends.
