Celebrating National Parents’ Day

National Parents’ Day is just around the corner on July 26th! Take the day to spend time with your family. Building on your relationship with your child is beneficial to her self-esteem and fosters a sense of security. Your child looks up to be, and as a parent, you are in an admirable role. Like we celebrate Mother’s Day and Father's Day, in May and June respectively, we get to celebrate us both this July. Here are some activities you can do with your child!

Lead by Example
On this special day, take the time to video call your own parents. Show your child what it means to be supportive, loving, and grateful. When she sees you have a positive relationship with your own parents, your child will want to focus on the same.

Order In
What is a restaurant you and your child just love? Order in on your special day. Restaurants like Café Tu Tu Tango and Lazy Moon pizza offer delicious meals for both adults and children. Don’t forget to order a celebratory dessert!

Fruit Picking
Florida has fields of fruit-picking paradise. Gather your baskets and visit farms such as Pappy’s Patch and A Patch of Blue where you can pick strawberries and blueberries, respectively. Eat them fresh as a snack, or use them in a cooking recipe!

Cook Together
Cooking with your child strengthens your ties. Teach her family recipes from generations before. Crepes are an excellent comfort food to celebrate your relationship. Plus you’ll be able to incorporate those fresh strawberries you both picked! Before you get started in the kitchen, make sure you are assigning age-appropriate tasks for your child!

Virtual Outings
Visit zoos, museums, and aquariums all around the world. Take a look at ancient mummies at the world’s oldest national public museum, The British Museum, or go under the sea to watch beluga whales, jellyfish, African penguins, and more at the Georgia Aquarium. Our list of local activities is full of fun ideas for you and your child!

Family Photos
Family photographs are meant to commemorate your family and cherish memories. All you need is a photographer to visit you at home or at a park. Dress up in matching outfits, or wear comfy clothes — whatever suits your style. Share your family’s story through a family photoshoot.
