Does your child need more books to read this summer? We all know it can become a little harder for your child to fit reading into his schedule, especially at this point in the summer. We want to make sure that doesn’t happen. Reading can improve your child’s grammar, writing skills, vocabulary, and overall academic performance. With the current climate of our world, we want to emphasize the importance of health through his summer reading. These books highlight topics that convey healthy living without worrying your child.

“Why Should I Eat Well?”
“Why Should I Eat Well?” by Claire Llewellyn is from the “How Should I” picture storybook series that answers the questions of young children. The book introduces children to eating a well-balanced diet. Your child will learn that good eating habits are the key to health.

“Wallie Exercises”
For ages four and older, “Wallie Exercises” is a fun story with wonderful rhymes that campaigns for children to stay active. The author, Steve Ettinger, is actually a fitness trainer himself. The plot follows Wallie the dog whose laziness has become a serious problem. His boy persuades him to go on a fitness adventure! Wallie learns how to exercise and goes from “pudgy pup” to “healthy hound.”

“Noses Are Not for Picking”
Nose-picking is an unfortunate habit that starts in the toddler years. Your child picks his nose for a variety of reasons, including colds and curiosity. Author Elizabeth Verdick wrote “Noses Are Not for Picking” for toddlers and preschoolers to learn how not to pick their noses and spread germs. Similarly, Verdick also wrote “Germs Are Not for Sharing,” which focuses on the everyday habits that spread germs, like sneezes, coughs, and runny noses. This book teaches your child what germs are and how to block them from spreading.

“The Tooth Book: A Guide to Healthy Teeth and Gums”
Teach your child all about dental health by reading “The Tooth Book: A Guide to Healthy Teeth and Gums” by Edward Miller. This vibrant and lively picture book illustrates the importance of taking good care of your teeth. After reading it, your child will find excitement in maintaining their overall health!
